Third Walsall Sea Scouts are a Royal navy recognised Sea Scout troop based in Walsall, West Midlands. Of the 10,000 scout troops in the UK just 100 troops have qualified to be recognised by the Royal Navy. Of these 100 troops, we have been consistently in the top 3 for the past decade!
We are an active troop with over 100 members and are rapidly expanding. The scout section is lead by a team of fully qualified leaders and helpers that enable a full range of both shore and water based activities.
During winter months we meet at Killock on a Thursday night from 7.00-9.30pm. In Summer time we meet at Powells Pool in Sutton park at the same time.
Activities carried out by the scouts include sailing, kayaking, climbing, canoeing, abseiling, rowing, cycling, pioneering, first aid, scuba diving, fire safety, orienteering and camping.
The scout group own a barge that has been modified to sleep up to 16 people, which is moored in Sutton Park. As we have exclusive use of the boat we are able to have sailing and canoeing camps from this base throughout summer.
The scout troop also owns a wood cabin in the middle of a forest in Shropshire, which also is exclusively available for our use at any time. This base is ideal for learning camping, survival and forestry skills.
